Flower Wreath Tutorial

My favorite projects are most often the ones that I can start and finish in one day. These wreaths took about an hour to make (uninterrupted…two hours if you count all of the times I was up and getting stuff for my kiddos 😉 ) All that to say, they’re quick and the result is one stunning piece of wall decor!

Supplies (for three wreaths):

  • 10″ embroidery hoop
  • 12″ embroidery hoop
  • 14″ embroidery hoop
  • 1 bouquet of 4-6 large faux flowers
  • 3 individual large faux flower stems
  • 2 bouquets of white faux filler flowers (each had 3 stems for a total of 6)
  • 1 stem of green faux filler leaves
  • hot glue gun
  • wire cutters

Note: I purchased all of my supplies at Michaels.

My first step was to disassemble all of the bouquets and individual stems. This includes the leaves that are attached to the flower stems. They make for beautiful filler leaves! Using my wire cutter, I trimmed pretty close to the flower or leaf. For the flowers, I recommend leaving two inches of stem so that it has more weight to it when you glue it to hold it in place. For the leaves, half an inch to an inch of stem is fine.

After trimming all of the stems, I arranged each wreath to make sure there was enough foliage. As you’ll notice in the pictures of the final wreaths, I used two light flowers and one dark flower for the large wreath and one light flower and one dark flower for the small and medium wreaths. It should be plenty! I also had one white filler stem on each side of the wreath and then filled in with leaves where it needed it.

After arranging everything to get the look you want, hot glue away! That’s it! *Note: Some of the bigger flowers were struggling to stay up even with the hot glue, so I tied twine (any sort of string is fine) around the stem and hoop to secure it. It hides behind well and no one will know it’s there!

I am so happy with the final result! My girls love them, and I think they’re the perfect accent for the light, airy and feminine look that I was going for!
